June 30, 2016: Laveranda Bed And Breakfast is closing our inn after 20 years of being in the St. Petersburg Florida community. The website will stay active until the end of 2016 as a thank you to all of our wonderful guests we have enjoyed meeting over the years.

A home from home

We have stayed several times with Nancy and Jay at La Veranda when we have been attending the Tampa Bay blues festival at St Petes. Every visit has been a pleasure, with a warm, friendly and informal welcome, lots of advice on local and Floridian places to visit. The room we stayed in was the Windsor suite which was great. A huge kingsize bed, plenty of storage space, a lounge with TV and an excellent shower. As with all the rooms, you have your own section of veranda right outside the room, so plenty of space to relax in the warm Florida weather!
Breakfast is also on the veranda downstairs and is a treat, with different dishes each day - pancakes, eggs, omelettes, etc. Coffee is in good supply from early morning and a newspaper is on hand too so you can catch up with all the news. Nancy is more than happy to lend you her laptop to catch up with email, so no excuse to lose touch with friends and family!
The Inn is well situated for downtown St Petes, just 5 minutes walk either to the Bay St complex or to the waterfront. We could not recommend La Veranda more highly and will certainly stay there again if we return to St Petes. ~BluesfanUk

Old World Charm with a gracious hostess in a great location

We have stayed at La Veranda many times in St. Petersburg and enjoyed every moment spent there. Each suite has its own charm and decor. It is a large mansion with beautiful grounds in a very convenient location to downtown. You can walk to the pier, parks, and great restaurants. We enjoy going to the Tampa Bay Ray games and always stay with Nancy. The owner is a well-educated, well-traveled, gracious and funny lady! The breakfasts are always varied and good! Affordable and relaxing. ~Merry21

Tropical paradise in the midst of the city

What a find!! my stay was lovely--great breakfasts and very good coffee!! sitting on the veranda sipping that good coffee and reading the newspaper Nancy, the owner was so accomodating in helping me find my way around--this place is so convenient--walk to shops--theatre-music venues- beach-marina-great resatuarants- my bed had down pillows-600-800- sheet count--fluffy towels-luxury for a modest price-a great get away!!I've already made my plans to return next winter for a longer period of time. ~jqcamp

Exceptional people, outstanding service

A couple of weeks ago my husband and children and I stayed there and were absolutely shocked at the quality of service we received from them. We NEVER stay in hotels when we travel we ALWAYS stay in B&B's. Perfect for families, very accommodating, super clean, ultra quiet, incredible value.
I saw that someone had the nerve to call the owner a "grouchy old lady", I think that people should take a better look at people before making such declarations. The owner does have an assertive personality, and can come across as forceful, but this should not be mistaken as "old & grouchy", she is actually very intelligent and WARM once you take the time to talk to her. She actually reminds me a lot of my mother who was often mistaken as being abrasive, when in fact she was kinds, warm, and generous. ~jnskitten04

Charming home with gracious hosts

We stayed at La Veranda and were pleasantly surprised. Very large rooms with charming hosts. The locations is superb to anyone wanting to be near downtown St. Pete and explore from there. Wonderful breakfast by Nancy, and we will return. ~Larryo

Better Than Home Away From Home

I've been to La Veranda several times. The hosts provide friendly service without hovering. The suites are all decorated to provide a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. They are set up so almost everyone can access their accomodations directly from the verandas, giving visitors a level of privacy not available in most B&B's. I will return as often as I can.... ~FrankSam26

Simply Wonderful

We stayed her for only one night in December 09 and wished it could have been more! We didn't arrive until about 6pm, but were warmly greeted by Nancy. She showed us to our room and it really was wonderful! The bed was a huge king size one, the bathroom had his and hers sinks, and the bath was also a jacuzzi, with a lovely stained glass window above it.The area outside the room was a lovely verandah, with wicker rocking chairs and a table. Our room was at the end of the verandah and so we had complete privacy. To sit outside at the end of the day was truely a relaxing experience. Our friends live about 200 yards from here, and when we showed them the room, they said that if any of their friends were visiting the area, they would highly recommend that they stay here. I can't wait to return!! ~DerbyshireEvil_Homer

It was as I imagined spending time in Florida

As I pulled into the driveway, I couldn't miss the beautiful landscape and the cozy veranda around the building. Nancy met us as we got out of the car. Her charm and elegance added to the experience. She showed us to our room, a charming suite tastefully decorated. The bed, seating and other amenities were comfortable and plentiful.
We had an excellent breakfast and when we inquired about the city, Nancy was a wealth of information. With the beautiful plants, staff and general location, I would say this is the finest B & B I've stayed in. I would recommend it to anyone looking for old world charm and a warm friendly atmosphere. ~BillVardon

A little taste of heaven to relax and get away

This is our second time here and we just love it. We just got engaged and wanted to celebrate. Nancy selected the perfect room for us and gifted us a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Nancy is very hospitable and goes out of her way to give you just what you're looking for. ~madrigal11

We will return!

What a wonderful place - great service, beautiful amenities and the PERFECT downtown location. We traveled over from the east coast of FL for a show (at the Palladium) and walked the two blocks after we checked in. Since this B&B is downtown, I did not know what to expect. The host was so friendly and caring, the room is beautiful, the night's sleep excellent, and the breakfast delicious. What a find in the city! A taste of turn of the 20th century Florida right in the middle of the city. We walked around downtown after the show and grabbed a bite. It was safe and wonderful. I wish every city had a place like La Veranda! ~ KDuffey

Our second time at Laveranda!

We actually just got back from a 4 night stay with Nancy! This is the second time we have stayed there and will continue in the future!! Nancy is awesome!!! They always take good care of us and are very hospitable! I think Chelsea would enjoy her stay in St. Pete and La Veranda! Easy to get in and out, conveniently located and in a wonderful city! What's not to like??
