Dali Museum Mission Statement: The Salvador Dalí Museum shall educate the public and promote understanding, enjoyment and scholarly examination of art through the exhibition of works by Dalí and artists of similar vision. The Salvador Dalí Museum shall preserve and expand its collection of art of Dalí and related archival material.
In cooperation with other museums and educational institutions, the Salvador Dalí Museum shall be an active resource in the cultural life of our local, state, national and world communities by the presentation of intriguing and varied exhibitions and programs.

Conveniently located in downtown St. Petersburg on Central Avenue, is a non-profit arts institution dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art and teaching the visual arts. Rotating exhibitions show case international, national and regional artists year 'round, complementing studio classes in all media for adults and youth. The Arts Center is the future home of the first ever permanent collection of Chihuly works in glass, to be called the Chihuly Collection at the Arts Center. An active glassblowing hot shop is part of the Arts Center expansion, planned for late 2010. End your visit with a stop to the Gallery Shop, where you will find original artwork and art-inspired gifts.

The Armed Forces Military Museum

Experience the fight for freedom through the eyes of American heroes, as The Armed Forces Military Museum, walks through military history from a WWI trench to the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi. The museum displays exhibits reflecting WWI, an extensive display of Japanese memorabilia associated with the WWII attack on Pearl Harbor, displays of the USMC in the South Pacific, D-Day landings and German Third Reich memorabilia. Exhibits are enhanced with simulations of smoke, sounds of airplanes and tanks, and other audio/visual effects. These effects will make visitors feel like they are part of the action.

The facility is the third largest of its kind in the United States containing photographs, memorabilia, books, films, videos and other material from and about the era. The only Holocaust Museum to feature continual Holocaust art exhibits, the museum's centerpiece permanent exhibit is a boxcar used to transport people to concentration camps. No graphic images, but still not recommended for children younger than grade five. Open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur. Adults $14, Seniors $12, Children $8. Special evening tours can be arranged.

Bright and White is a multifarious title. Bright implies intelligence, open mindedness, high enery or intense pigment that is highly saturated. The show initially began as an opportunity to juxtapose color and non-color imagery. The curatorial process was predicated upon tapping into artists work in the medium of porcelain, and through that material creating sculptures in a narrative context. The color work selected also captures the storytelling motif, while pushing the viewer into a highly saturated nether reality. In both cases, the art forces the observer to challenge their own perceptions of the ideas and environments presented within the work, and the impact it has on the viewer.

The only comprehensive art collection, from antiquity to the present day, on Florida's west coast. The collection of 4,000 objects includes significant works by Cezanne, Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, Rodin, Henri, Bellows and O'Keeffe. Special exhibits feature works on loan from other metropolitan museums. Period rooms feature antiques and historical furnishing. The museum has a collection of photos by American master photographers and a Steuben glass gallery. Guided tours available.
